AMICHAI’S 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY: HIGH HOLY DAY SERVICES 2020

Amichai is celebrating its 10 year Anniversary and we could not have done it without your involvement and support. This has been a strange and difficult year. However, even during periods of isolation and difficulty, we as a people have always found ways to continue to connect with one another. COVID-19 may still be on the offensive but we have our lives to live. We do not take a vacation from life and neither does God. Our souls still stir and we continue to address our spiritual needs.

As we announced late Spring, we are again conducting High Holy Day services this year. We are sensitive to keeping everyone safe as we worship together and usher in the New Year. In deference to the realities of our times, this year’s services will be conducted ONLINE.

Amichai was founded 10 years ago by a small group of individuals who understood then that the fastest growing group of Jews in America were the unaffiliated. This remains true today. As such, Amichai was established to address the religious/spiritual needs of those who no longer belong to synagogues but for whom those spiritual needs remain central to their lives. Indeed, there are many ways to affirm our Jewishness and actively identify as Jews. To that end, for the last 9 years you have welcomed us into your lives for some of life‘s most sacred moments during lifecycle events, pastoral counseling and educational needs in addition to our High Holiday services.

In order to attend Amichai High Holiday services there has been a nominal fee per person to address our underlying expenses and overhead including rentals and staff. There have never been annual dues nor have we ever engaged in fundraising.

This year we find ourselves in the unprecedented position of offering High Holiday services online to make our services available to everyone. There is no set fee, however, our overhead for services remains high this year. Last year our individual fee was $230/person; $460/couple; and $920/family of four (4). We sincerely need your financial support in order to sustain our High Holiday services.

We thank you for your continued support and look forward to ushering in 5781 together. Happy 10th Anniversary to our Amichai community! To learn more or register for High Holiday Services please click here.

Warmly,
Rabbi Debra Nesselson
