Funerals and Dedications Testimonials
"You have brought us home, guiding us all in our grief and sorrow, giving us faith and love..."
"Sitting down to write a note of thanks to you does not seem adequate. We are so grateful to have you in our lives, to be able to pick up the phone and know you will be here. You have guided us through some very emotional and difficult moments in all our lives.
You have brought us home, guiding us all in our grief and sorrow, giving us faith and love and the ability to come together to laugh, celebrate and grieve as we recall our mother’s life. The service for her was beautiful and everything we had hoped for to celebrate our beautiful and fierce Mom. With love and gratitude,"

"...the beautiful eulogy you gave for our mother..."
"I can’t express how appreciative we are for the beautiful eulogy you gave for our mother, and all the emotional support you gave us during the last week of her life. I know we were all in a daze, but your guiding light helped to keep us going.
Even though you didn’t know my mother, you were able to capture her spirit. It’s hard to sum up someone’s life with all its complexities in a few words, but I believe people who didn't know her well got a sense of who she was. So many people later told me what a meaningful and beautiful service you conducted.
We feel blessed to be able to call you “our Rabbi” and we look forward to participating in High Holiday services with you this Fall."

"Rabbi Debbie guided me through my own feelings about the untimely
death of my parents as well as the issues that arise when dealing
with family under difficult circumstances. "
"On the recent second anniversary of my father's death, I spent some time reflecting on the events leading up to the death of both of my parents that unfortunately, were within months of each other. I thought about the people who lent me support, showed kindness, were there for me or simply listened. Rabbi Debbie was the first person to come to mind.
Not only did Rabbi Debbie step in as a spiritual leader, she was, and remains a great friend and confidant. She captured the essence of my parents not only in her unforgettable and incredible eulogy but also in her every day dealings with our large and complex family. Rabbi Debbie guided me through my own feelings about the untimely death of my parents as well as the issues that arise when dealing with family under difficult circumstances. Her advice, her honesty, her non-judgmental thoughts and gentle opinions allowed me to navigate the situation surrounding the events of 2010 without any conflict or residual hard feelings which can easily occur when families are under emotional stress.
I will be forever grateful to Rabbi Debbie and, of course, she is always my first choice and recommendation for all life cycle events. She is a joy and delight to be with, in hard times as well as the best of times. I am very lucky to know her and to call her my Rabbi."

"...the utmost amount of respect, kindness, compassion, and
genuine feelings of concern, we were speechless."
"Rabbi Debra Nesselson's ability to comprehend and embrace "life events" from a very broad vantage point, integrating the religious, spiritual, cultural, factual, compassionate, and a heartfelt perspective is truly remarkable.
When we include her "delivery," which is articulated clearly, concisely, and with the utmost amount of respect, kindness, compassion, and genuine feelings of concern, we were speechless. These sentiments have been shared with us during both a memorial service and our wedding by our family members and friends.
If you are looking for a Rabbi to share life experiences on a heartfelt level, which is both intellectual and wise, we highly recommend Rabbi Debbie's services! We are available to share our experiences and comments with you as needed."

"...(you) helped us all get through a most difficult time."
"Thank you for all you provided for us at the time of Dad’s passing. The comfort you gave our family through listening to us ramble on while gleaning from that the kind of person he was, was immeasurable. You captured his essence in both your words and the manner in which you conducted the service. Your warmth toward our family at our home helped us all to get through a most difficult time.
Thank you again for being there during such a sad time but we are also counting on you to share with us much more happy occasions."

"...the traits that come most readily to mind are caring,
compassionate, learned, articulate and friend."
"When I think of what a spiritual leader should be, the traits that come most readily to mind are caring, compassionate, learned, articulate and friend. Rabbi Nesselson is each one of these and more. She worked so hard to capture the essence of my mother for her eulogy, staying up until the wee hours of the morning to get it right.
The result was beautiful, moving and comforting. I think Rabbi Nesselson understands the challenges facing Reform Judaism today. She will be a force for positive change.

"...she was able to do this so well on such short notice was amazing."
"Rabbi Nesselson’s eulogy at my mother’s funeral was eloquent. She wove together the various threads of my mother’s life to tell a story that was moving and beautiful. That she was able to do this so well on such short notice was amazing. Rabbi Nesselson, thank you for always being there for us!"

"...Dad would have loved how warm the words were..."
"Thank you so much for performing the beautiful Dedicaton service at the cemetery. It was just a perfect blend of prayer and family and Dad would have loved how warm the words were and how the sun came through the winter sky. We so appreciate your sensitivity and presence. "...not just as our rabbi, but as a warm, sympathetic friend..."
"We just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for being there for us and officiating at my Dad’s Dedication. I can’t tell you how much it meant to all of us to have you there—not just as our Rabbi, but as a warm, sympathetic friend who made it a bit easier for all of us to cope with our loss. We are lucky you are our Rabbi and we are sure that view is shared by everyone who has been lucky enough to interact with you."
